ANZ Plate and Toybox Studio
Make a licence plate image for your Tesla's on-screen car in the style of any Australian state or territory, or New Zealand, then build a USB drive kit with the right folders. Everything runs in your browser: nothing you type is sent to us.
For the car's screen only. Not a number plate.
420 x 100: recommended for longer plates
On a generic car outline. The real look depends on your car's screen.
What goes on the USB drive
| Folder | What it holds | Rules | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
LicensePlate | Plate background images | PNG, 420x100 or 420x200 (400x200 also works for North American plates), under 500 KB, up to 10 images. Folder name is case-sensitive. | Not a Tesla App, 8 Aug 2026 |
Wraps | Paint Shop wraps | PNG, 512x512 to 1024x1024, no larger than 1 MB, letters, numbers, underscores, dashes and spaces only in the name (max 30 characters), up to 10 from USB. | Tesla, custom-wraps |
LightShow | Custom light shows | A .fseq file plus a matching .wav or .mp3 with the same name. The drive must not have a TeslaCam folder at the top level. | Tesla, light-show |
Boombox | Custom lock sound | Community guides say a WAV file named LockChime.wav. | teslalocksound.com guide |
Format the drive as exFAT, FAT32, MS-DOS FAT, ext3 or ext4 (not NTFS), and keep map or firmware update files off it (Tesla). The kit includes empty Wraps, Boombox and LightShow folders and a README with these rules. We do not include any sounds or music.
Putting it on the car
- Unzip the kit and copy its folders to the top level of the car's USB drive.
- Plug the drive into the glovebox USB port.
- On the touchscreen, open Toybox, then Paint Shop, Customize, and the License Plate tab. Your image appears under Background.
- The car also has a Number setting for plate text. Because your image already has text on it, the car's own plate text may sit on top of it.
We haven't tested these steps in a car yet.
