About

Privacy policy

Last updated 10 Oct 2026

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, and the GDPR where it applies to visitors from Europe.

Reading the site

Reading the site needs no account. We do not use analytics that fingerprint you. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes basic request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. We store your light or dark mode choice in your browser. It never leaves your device.

Owner reports and check-ins

When you send an "I got it" software report or a Supercharger check-in, we store your answers, the date and a one-way (salted) hash of your IP address to stop spam. We never store your raw IP address, and the forms do not ask for your name, email, VIN or number plate. How long we keep it: we delete the IP hash 90 days after you send the report. Reports we reject are deleted 30 days after you send them. Reports we approve are kept as part of the tracker's public record, showing only the fixed answers and never anything that identifies you. You can ask us to remove an approved report at any time.

Contact form and ad reports

If you contact us, we keep your message, and your email address if you give it, to reply and to keep a record of complaints. We delete contact messages 12 months after you send them. Ad reports record the ad slot, the page and your screen size, and we delete them 90 days after you send them. When you use the contact form or report an ad, we also store a one-way salted hash of your IP address to limit abuse. Without our secret key, no one can work out your IP address from the hash. It is deleted with the message or report.

Spam protection

Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person is sending the form. Cloudflare processes data from your browser to do this under its own privacy policy.

Tools that run in your browser

The Plate and Toybox Studio runs entirely in your browser. The plate text you type and any images you check are never sent to us.

Advertising

We do not run ads yet. When we do, ad networks may use cookies. Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalised ads, and this page will list the networks we use.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete information we hold about you. Contact privacy@voltsandbots.com or use our contact form. You can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or New Zealand's Privacy Commissioner.
