Standards
Sources and methods
How we rank sources
- Primary: Tesla's announcements, release notes, support pages and owner's manuals, its investor relations releases, quarterly updates and earnings calls, and filings with the US SEC. Regulators such as NHTSA, the Australian Department of Infrastructure's recalls site, ANCAP, the Clean Energy Regulator and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
- Secondary: established motoring, EV and technology press in Australia, New Zealand and overseas.
- Data: public trackers and datasets, credited and linked. We do not copy third-party datasets without permission.
- Community: forums, social media and owner groups, used as tips to check. We do not name or quote members of private groups.
Posts by Tesla employees on X: treated as tips to check, quoted exactly with a link, and never reported as confirmed unless Tesla or an original document confirms them. Posts by former staff are labelled as such and treated as commentary.
Articles link the original source wherever you can check it, and say whose claim it is when a claim is contested, quoted or from a single outlet. Facts that change, such as a price or a count, carry the day they were last checked. Each tracker shows the source for every entry.
Trackers
Each tracker explains its method on the page, keeps a dated change log and offers its data as CSV or JSON. Owner reports are treated as a self-selected sample rather than a census, and never used as the only source for a fact.
Times and prices
Times are in AEST or AEDT (Sydney), with US Pacific time where it matters. Prices are in A$ or NZ$, with US$ for comparison, and are dated.
