Tesla delivered 4,050 cars in Australia in October, up 342 per cent

Tesla delivered 4,050 new cars in Australia in October, 342 per cent more than in October 2025, the Electric Vehicle Council's October sales report shows.

The Model Y range made up 3,105 of the total and has passed 39,000 deliveries this year. Model 3 deliveries rose to 945, from 181 in October last year.

The delivery records in the council's report list 1,010 of October's Model Ys as the Model Y L and 2,095 as other Model Y variants, our count of the records.

More than 45,700 this year

The council's August report said Tesla had passed 36,000 deliveries for 2026, and its December 2025 report put Tesla's total for all of 2025 at 28,856.

Add September's 5,654, from the Model Y and Model 3 figures in the September report, and October's 4,050. By our calculation, that puts Tesla past 45,700 for the year.

A second monthly fall

October was down on the two months before it. Tesla delivered 7,685 cars in August and 5,654 in September.

Model Y L

Tesla opened Australian and New Zealand orders for the six-seat Model Y L on 13 March 2026. First customer deliveries began at the end of April.

The delivery records first list the Model Y L as its own model from July. That month it outsold the other Model Ys, 2,429 to 2,215, and again in August, 3,236 to 3,178.

In September it delivered 1,764 against 2,712 other Model Ys, and in October 1,010 against 2,095.

The Model Y L column starts in July, when the records first list it separately, and earlier months show a dash. Totals match the August to October reports.

Tesla's New Zealand registrations

In New Zealand, 97 new Teslas were registered in October, against 84 a year earlier and 650 in September. The figures are NZ Transport Agency registrations, published on the Motor Trade Association's vstat site.
