FSD v14.3.12 starts reaching Australian and NZ Teslas

Tesla's FSD (Supervised) driver assist, which the driver must watch at all times, gets new speed settings for subscribers in Australia and New Zealand.

Tesla has started sending FSD (Supervised) v14.3.12 "Down Under" to cars in Australia and New Zealand. It comes in software update 2026.38.5.5.

Tesla's notes for the update are tagged for Model 3 and Model Y with the Hardware 4 computer, which Tesla calls AI4.

Seen on about 74 cars

Fleet tracker Teslascope had seen the update on about 74 cars so far (70 in Australia, 4 in New Zealand). The first was seen at 1:20 pm AEDT on 21 Oct.

Teslascope only counts cars linked to its service, so it shows the start of a rollout, not how many cars have the update.

What FSD (Supervised) is

FSD (Supervised) is Tesla's driver-assistance system. Tesla's Australian FSD page says it can handle route navigation, steering, lane changes and parking "under your active supervision".

Tesla says it "requires an attentive driver" who must be ready to act at all times, and that it "does not make the vehicle autonomous". The driver stays responsible for the car.

It is a monthly subscription. Tesla's Australian Model 3 order page lists it at A$149 a month. Tesla's New Zealand Model 3 order page lists it at NZ$159 a month.

How FSD picks its speed

Tesla's notes for the update say FSD (Supervised) "will now determine the appropriate speed based on a mix of driver profile, speed limit, and surrounding traffic". They add: "The more assertive the profile, the higher the max speed".

The new profile is Mad Max, which Tesla says "comes with higher speeds than HURRY". The notes give no figure for how much faster it drives.

Speed limits still apply whichever profile you choose. In Australia, road rules and fines are set by each state and territory, and the National Transport Commission's road rules page links to each one's transport authority.

The Sloth profile, the scroll wheel change, Brake Confirm off by default and arrival options were already in the v14.3.9 notes.

Other changes in v14.3.12

Tesla's FSD notes for this version, also shown in this copy of the notes, list:

  • A rewrite of "the AI compiler and runtime from the ground up with MLIR, resulting in 20% faster reaction time"
  • "Mitigated unnecessary lane biasing and minor tailgating behaviors"
  • "Enhanced response to emergency vehicles, school buses, right-of-way violators, and other rare vehicles"
  • "Improved driver monitoring system sensitivity with better eye gaze tracking"
  • "You can now see distance traveled in FSD (Supervised) without an intervention"

Tesla lists "Add pothole avoidance" under upcoming improvements, without a date.
