Home batteries and storage

Storage is counted in gigawatt-hours (GWh), and 1 GWh is 1,000 megawatt-hours (MWh). Battery size is in kilowatt-hours (kWh). The Clean Energy Regulator is the Australian Government regulator that administers schemes to measure and reduce carbon emissions, and it publishes the data on home batteries approved under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program.

How we collect this

  • Tesla figures come from its quarterly production, deliveries and deployments release and its quarterly update, both filed with the US SEC.
  • Australian figures come from the Clean Energy Regulator's quarterly carbon market report and its downloadable data. State figures are the regulator's own, rounded to one decimal place, and the shares are our calculation.
  • The regulator does not break its data down by battery brand, so these figures are not specific to Tesla's batteries.
